Technically Not Jessie's Girl

Rick Springfield lied to everyone. Never he pining after "Jessie's Girl" but he was after Gary's. Yes that is right Gary. This song is based on a true experience Springfield had when he was 27.

I know pretty interesting right? "Jessie's Girl" was Rick Springfield's one and only No. 1 hit in the US and became the song he is most known for. It is one of my favorite car jams. It seems like everyone even my age know this song but no one really knows why or how they do, they just do.

Back to the point, Springfield come across this girl he sing about when she started dating an acquaintance of his, Gary. He met Gary when they took a stained glass-making class together in Pasadena, California.

So I am not really sure how some can wish they had Jessie's girl (Gary's) when they've never actually met them. Springfield never actually met the girl he sings about but she stuck in his mind. Click here for a full article about Springfield and "Jessie's Girl".

In an interview Springfield states that some may think it is a simple song but it actually took two months just to work out the guitar and piano. He also almost names the song "Randy's Girl" and I think we are all thankful for the change.
